Epidemiology of organophosphate poisoning in the North of Iran

The use of pesticides as one the main agricultural poles has been increased in Iran recent years. Organophosphate poisoning harmful consequences for human health. This study present clinical and laboratory evidences on patients exposed to insecticides cause these poisons. We collected data from referred Razi Hospital, Rasht, who were poisoned with organophosphorus toxins. For this purpose, a checklist was prepared, 414 between 2011 2016. results showed that most cases men (73%) about 27.2% age group 45-60 years (highest frequency groups). frequent symptoms vomiting (65%), nausea (61%), abdominal pain (39%), perspiration (27%). There also decrease consciousness (16%) sialorrhea (16%). Totally, 186 (46.2%) toxins by respiratory 215 (53.4%) orally. Out samples, 102 (33%) had abnormal creatine phosphokinase (CPK) enzymes 114 (34.5%) lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). Mean hospital length stay (LOS) 3.3 days. found significant relationship LOS heart failure, hypertension, addiction. To better manage process treatment reduce waste limited resources available, careful consideration should be given type pesticide used patient prevent overdose unintentional antidote.
